Yeah, corny.
Several years ago here on VA someone pointed to this piece of freeware called RetoPlayer. It's an MP3 (etc) player for your Mac which allows you add noise, skips, warp to your playback of digital files.
Over time I've come to love it for all its goofiness, flaws and quirkiness; it has become my go to player when listening on my computer.
And believe it or not it throws up a wider soundstage with better detail and better overall fidelity than RealPlayer. And it leaves iTunes in the dust!
