In Reply to: RE: I had over 12,000 when i suddenly had to move. I kept 6,000 LP not too bad, and I moved them all myself posted by dadbar on March 25, 2012 at 18:27:19:
The $75 it cost was well worth it.
The elevator where I was at was turned off.. So I loaded the cart, then at stairs took off, but the stuff was easy to slide down the carpeted stairs to the basement. Then cart to car. At new place lockers in garage. So also no problem. It took about 100 Free McDonald's frozen french fries boxes. At the storage lockers, Nice that the moving boxes fit nearly perfectly into my modular LP shelving units. So it all fit into two lockers, where it all stayed for a month. Then after moving in, i could get them at my leisure.
It all was MUCH easier than I thought it would be.
The harder part was discarding 6,000 LP of the 12,000 I owned.
The Classical took the brunt of the tossing. At least 5,000 Classical Lps were tossed. Zero Jazz LPs got tossed. And the rest were pop/rock junk.
