The Masterlink was designed as a mastering device, of sorts. It is very capable in that regard. It has a lot a functionality and convenience (that you will most likely never use unless you plan on remastering your vinyl as well as archiving it). Whether someone ever uses 24/96 is irrelevant. Whether someone thinks DSD or 24/192 is overkill is again not the point. If that's what you want, it is available and you have two basic routes: a standalone unit or a computer. If you want the flexibility to go above 24/96, very simply the Masterlink is not your machine. I have nothing against the Masterlink; but, sonically it simply is outclassed. Technology, no matter how much we hate to admit, has moved on. I realization not lost on this diehard analog/vinylphile.
