Can you mearsure EMI? & ERS placement

Since it seems EMI can degrade sound quality it would be helpful to know how much EMI equipment generates and how much it is affected by EMI. This would be helpful not only for purchase but also placement of existing equipment.
So can it be measures and, if so, how is it done?
A related question: if ERS sheets really do block EMI what is the best application with tranformers? can you wrap the transformer or do you need to be concerned with ventilation?
