How to make the base similiar in shape to the original:Assuming you have 3/4 MDF, with enough surface space to hold the 3 tubes: place 3 of them together with wood glue, clamp them together, let dry. If glue leaks out it doesn't matter you'll be cutting those pieces off anyways to get the rough shape.
If you bought the 2 1/2 PVC as per instructions from Jon Rinch's site then all you need is a circle template using American measurement and mark the circles in pencil according to the dimensions provided. (if you cut the PVC pipe already for length you may use the scrap as a circle template as well)
If you have a hole saw bit then go to the drill press or hand held and be careful, as some hole saw drill bits may take off a little more than its given size. I say buy a little smaller and file and sand until you get exact size. Test sizing with scrap or with the pipe for fit.After you got the holes out the way, draw the top view of a rectangle with the middle hole as the center. Then if you want to round off the edges go to the template and pick the desired radius and mark the corners. Off to the band saw or whatever method you use to cut wood. Once you got the shape cut out, use files to round off all the edges except the bottom face. Finish off with sand paper and then it should be ready for primer.
Some Industrial Plastic wharehouses should stock what you are looking for or have a catalog of what you want.
use whatever point. puck, etc... to elevate the base off the ground.
