I have use polystyrene capacitors in the interfaces of my Acoustat 2+2 and 1+1 speakers. In the interface, there is a parallel combination of three coupling caps to the input of the high frequency audio transformer. I upgraded the caps and one of the new ones is a 1.5 uf polystyrene. It sounds as though you are planning to use your polystyrene caps as power supply filtering caps. I have no experience in this application of polystyrene caps but it can't hurt to try and they might improve the sound.
When soldering, keep in mind that the polystyrene dielectric material is easily damaged: it is rated for something like 85 degrees centigrade.
