Cheapest tweak or regular preventive maintenance.

A few weeks ago I was listening to my main music system and felt that the bass was wooly and no matter of adjustment could alleviate the problem. I then remembered that about a year earlier I had tried to tighten the drivers on my main speakers and noticed that many of them were slightly loose, Typically a 1/5th to 1/3rd turn of allen wrench.

So I went to my Sunfire Signature sub and tightened both sides and was literally shocked at the looseness of the drivers! Some actually needed to be tightened by nearly 270 degrees and all were loose. This made such a significant difference in sound that I had to completely redo the volume and crossover settings. The bass is much quicker and tighter, pun intended.

Yesterday I decided to check the tightness on my sub in my HT system and the results were even more significant.

Many of you probably do this as a matter of regular system maintenance, but if you haven't I would suggest that you do so. You many not be hearing what your system was designed to deliver!
