I own a sony cd juke box, model CDP-CX350. it came with a great remote with two-way communications to the player and an LCD screen to show me the disk titles on the remote. well three months ago the principal button, the "enter"key so to speak gave up the ghost, I dissambled the unit and found a very small surface mounted contact switch which had lost a spring...looks un repairable so I went on-line with sony and ordered a replacement remote. the original remote part number #141825411 had been replaced with #1418254112. ordered for $138 (!!!!!) and it arrived within the short period of two months. looks the same...does not talk to the player. the LCD says "searching for player" then after about 30 seconds "point at main unit" no go...take out batteries and replace, no go. turn on and off the player, no go. put battieres back into the old borken remote, et voila! talks perfectly (I just have no enter key! lol!) so I call sony for help and they say that the unit must be faulty because it is the replacemnet part, etc. so I send it back on RMA. I get a new unit sent out as advance replacement and guess what? no communications. so I then call tech support and force a deeper discussion of how to trouble shoot this problem. bottom line my old remote communicates fine with the unit, the new one does not recognize the unit, according to tech suppor this unit is the correct one to replace the old unit and they have no idea why it cannot speak to the player. Since I live in el salvador I do not have a service center closer than 500 miles and certianly do not want to remove all the CDs from a perfectly good player to send it with my remote for "repairs" since the remote is the problem. here come the questions: 1. is it possible to operate on the old remote by removing the switch from the new one and transfer it to the old one? they are really small and surface mounting to a PC board. 2. does anyone sell a learning two-way remote with an LCD? 3. anyone have suggestions? thanks in advance, tony
