Try to visualise this!Around the CD63 decoder (SAA7345) the circuit diagram has VDD2 supplied from 5v via a 4R7 fusable resistor with a 220u and 47p pair to ground. VDD on this chip is connected to VDD2 with a local 47p at the VDD pin. OK(ish).
The reality is that VDD is actually connected the OTHER SIDE of the resistor (directly to the +5V) with only the 47p at the pin to quieten things down. This looks crap to me.
I'm thinking of changing the resistor to a choke (DCR=1.5) and upping the big C for VDD2. Then separately feeding the +5v in to VDD via another choke and adding a big C to the 47p at the pin.
Does this look OK? If anyone wants to e-mail me I'll send them a little pic of the decoder arrangement from the schematic.
