Original post:
http://www.audioasylum.com/audio/tweaks/messages/56113.htmlJohn- After reading more, it sounds like the only reason the HCA-2200 has an op amp is so that it can be run balanced which I do not take advantage of.
I was going to replace the AD712 with the LC Audio's moded AD825. I was under the impression that the op amp was socketed (no soldering needed to remove it.) I noticed last night that mine is not socketed but is soldered to the PCB.

http://www.audioasylum.com/audio/general/messages/180135.htmlSince I have to pull out the soldering iron either way I just wanted clarification that bypassing the AD712 by removing it and soldering the hot lead RCA to the solder point of pin 6 on the PCB is a better option then replacing the AD712 with a moded AD825?
I take it that I ground the not hot lead of this RCA to the same place the factory RCA is?
As always, Thanks for your time!
