Tweakers' Asylum Tweaks for systems, rooms and Do It Yourself (DIY) help. FAQ. |
|
I've searched the asylum on the topic but still am confused. I'm about to upgrade the resistors (to Mills) and caps (to Ansar) in my speakers. I've got these components already. The stock crossover has all its components hot-glued to a thick cardboad-like material. I prefer to keep the board so that I don't need to move the inductors. How should resistors and caps be mounted to the board? I've read that the resistors should be mounted "free air" for better heat dissipation, true? I found very little info about mounting caps. Should I hot glue them to the board as done by the manufacturer?
Many thanks!
