Hi Zen,
You just provided youself the information why your dacproject does not work with the TDA1541:
For the TDA 1541 the CS8412 should be in mode#2 that is M2=0, M1=1, M0=0.
For the PCM56 you need mode #5 that is M2=1, M1=0 and M0=1. See the datasheet how to implement these modes. Apparently your CS8412 is in mode 5.
Even without the cap between pin 16 and 17 you get sound output with the TDA1541. Only low level signal is inflicted.
