Many years ago I replaced the tweeter's caps on my Maggie 1.5 with 3 parallel tin-foil caps made by Audyn.
If I remember correctly, the maximum value is about 5.6uF.
Costs were about $35 per speaker. Now, I just wonder how they compare with the Jensens, Auricaps etc. which are often mentioned as upgrades for the 1.6 maggies ?
Which ones would be a real improvement over the Audyn's KpSn's and how much would it cost per speaker ?
I never replaced the woofer shunt caps; what would the improvement be by replacing them for something better ?
Anybody tried "transformer core coils" ? They are almost as good as air cores (for distortion, saturation) but have a much lower DCR.
Intertechnik has a model FE130/3.9/30 Transformer core 3.90 MH R=0.07 ohm for about $50 each.Regards, Rudolf.
