I've recently picked up many PC power supplies from the garbage dump and found that they have some good stuff for DIY.
THough they are switching PS, they do have lots of good fast recovery rectifiers, some high voltage capacitors, a few cokes, IEC sockets, sometimes 5V regulation ICs and, if you are quick enough, Fans. Their physical size is very suitabel for building poor man's mono block stuff. You can separate power supplier, pre-amp and power amp into total mono block configurations.
Rather than seeing so many old computers dumped into the tip, I think its a good idea to review some of them and turn them into good HIFI gear ! In fact we can use an old computer case to put most of the amplfication gear into it if we damp it well.
