Tweakers' Asylum Tweaks for systems, rooms and Do It Yourself (DIY) help. FAQ. |

Working on various projects often I need to use good foil caps. I want to keep this rewiew short, so let me tell you that I used the SCR KPSN film and foil caps in 4 different tube amps and 3 different preamps. Plus two speaker projects with high - end Revelator tweeters and one with a Raven 2.There is a system, where I used more than 30 of those caps - EVERY non - lytic cap in the whole system is SCR. So the quality, or any problem would show up for sure.
I must say, that those caps are very very good. Neutral sounding. Clear, clean sound. Natural mids. Top end is very well defined, without grain, without sizzle. Fast, deep bass. I like everything about them.
While I think that copper foil paper in oil from jensen or from audio-note have superior mids and highs, while having inferior bass, they cost more than twice as much. Hovlands are maybe a touch better, but for me are hard to get and again cost more.
I tried the various North-Creeks, and preferred SCR in every case.4 and a half star out of five. A very safe bet overall.
