RE: RIAA Network Cap Replacement

In the case where you have an .033 in parallel with a .0027, I assume this is because the RIAA calculation calls for something close to .0357 uF total capacitance?

In this application, I would never choose to use two capacitors that differ in construction from one another in parallel. I would recommend that you use two polystyrenes (only because in those values, 'styrenes or silver micas are your two best sounding choices). I don't know what Sonic Cap Gen I caps are actually made of, but you probably cannot get them in values like 2700pF, and I am not terribly fond of them. Plus, I have a feeling that not all silver micas are created equal as to sonics. Russian SSGs are the best I have ever heard, but they are very large and may not fit. So, stick with polystyrenes is my opinion.

For the .01uF value, you have a plethora of choices. VCap copper foil/teflon is my favorite sounding capacitor. They do require some break-in time but not an eternity, like some others do.
