Wool tweeter surround and other musings.......

I have a pr of Tyler Acoustic Linbrook Signature Monitors. Apparently over the years they evolved/revolved. I have the latest version with single wire instead of bi-wire and the cabinets which have sort of a hex shape (wider in the middle and tapering off front and back) with very sharp baffle corners, ie: cabinet diffraction. I found a high-end speaker manufacturer who agreed to give me a pr of wool tweeter surrounds, made of very dense wool (on the premise I would divulge where I got them). I know this is nothing new, going back to the 70's, but WOW did my soundstage and front to back imaging improve!! It is almost impossible to buy these, but well worth the improvement. Madisound sells these, but they are much too thin. You need a dense 1/4" to really hear the difference. Don't buy synthetic wool! Also, just out of pure luck, I hit the analog by-pass switch on my NAD pre-pro and my god did it get even better!! The subwoofer was also by-passed, but thats an easy fix. I first put the tweeter foam surrounds on with a glue stick so I could see/hear if they would work. That way I could remove them without damaging my $600/pr tweeters or cabinets. A fun tweak(s) to try.
