Ric...I am so glad you shared the story of girlfriend's cello endpin. The physics at play for one application apply to the other. Your story is anecdotal evidence of that. Great creative application of the damping sheet. Does your guitar still have the woody resonance as it did before damping? My favorite guitar recordings capture the pluck of the string and the woody richness of the guitar's body, in much the same way as a great piano recording has the bell-like clarity of the hammer's attack and then the rich harmonics of the wooden soundboard.
