After checking the components to be joined, the X-2 caps leads are real short, say 1/4", resistor leads are long and will be affixed then trimmed, not a problem. I'll also need to attach a lead to the exit side of the cap as the lead is the same 1/4" length. Scenario is resistor, in series, feeds X-2 cap, cap then feeds the other pole of the AC outlet (L to N). Cap leads are 20 gauge and resistor leads are 22 gauge, not that that makes all that much of a difference, just background info. Thanks all.
