You cannot mount large two lead diodes like you would a tiny one that sits on a board. If your part is sitting in the air and resonating on its two leads....you will hear this. Very bad. You must damp all diodes, large transistors, regulators, heatsinks, etc. or you get bad sound. Use EAR SD40AL damping material (available from Percy Audio) along the top or sides of all diodes or from the top of the diode to another part. Then use a little Amazing Goop around the part of the damping material where it is touching the part as the glue on the EAR material is not very strong. Amazing difference for the better when your parts are not resonating. Check out my oppo 105 mod page for pics of damped diodes and parts. Don't put damping material directly on the face of anything electrical (including diodes). Damping material is not a good dielectric....damp along the edges only.
