I must say I have to agree. To pick a speaker without listening to it in you home could be a real mistake. I myself have a bias against ported speakers as I have found them to be unlistenable. I know that modern designs are supposed to be better. If you are picky you should be real careful before spending lots of money and if your not picky you don't need to spend lots of money. I don't quite get your perspective on this. Others opinions are all over the place, just like the sound of speakers.
