I would listen to 3 songs I know well which show different aspects, make the change, play the 3 songs in reverse order, listen to a variety of music for a few hours over a couple of days, then switch back and listen to the 3 songs again.
If I change a component which will affect the loudness, I measure the output (with a digital multi-meter) at the amp using a 1Khz tone, swap, then adjust the volume to the same output using the tone.
