RE: Fuses: Better late than never

@Luminator...question about fuses in tube integrated amps...hope you can offer some advice. Quite a newbie here. Heard that it's easy to blow a fuse should one of the power tubes arc. Didn't blow a fuse (stock ones that came with the amp) when one of my power tubes gave me problems (crackling noise in one speaker) and a rectifier tubes went bad (white flashes in tube). Not am not sure if neither were "arcing". About to pull the trigger on the Synergistic Research Quantum or Red. I guess my question would be...is there a high chance that the fuse could blow should a tube fail for what ever reason?

I have actually installed a new SR Quantum fuse in my cdp a few days ago (had the tech change the fuse when I sent it in for repair). There seems to be an improvement to my ears (better detail and dynamics vs the stock fuse) however I can't be sure if I am listening to the true potential of the fuse as both directions we not tried and compared. Question would be...does the "wrong" direction sound bad (for example...dull and lacking in dynamics) or is it a case of the "right" direction just sounding better?

If I do change the fuse for the tube integrated amp...I will be able to compare both directions as it can be removed without opening up the unit. Not the case for the cdp as it involves opening up the unit (something which I am not confident in doing.

Thank you for your help. Regards.
