double ground

This forum (and Dry Ginger) convinced me to add a ground to the outlet that serves my system. The system is on its own circuit(20 amp). I used a copper wire to ground the circuit to a ground rod outside and heard no difference. Dry Ginger convinced me that I had used the wrong wire and recommended another one which I purchased. The new wire improved the sound such that even I could hear the low level sounds more clearly. Then I had the bright idea to add another length to the outside ground so I bought another 9 ft. rod with clamp and used the good wire fastened from the end of the first ground wire to the new rod. More improvement illustrated by causing me to turn down the volume by over 2 db(I have a C-J CT 5 pre amp which has a volume control that steps down .7 db/click). Cheap tweak that let more detail come through.
