...that reminds me to opine that I find a laminated bamboo board spiked to the floor can also serve well as a loudspeaker plinth. However, I believe the Farberware boards shown in the link are 3/4" thick, which is fine for moderate-weight audio components, whereas 1" or thicker would be more suitable for heavy floorstanders or stand-mount monitor speaker stands positioned on the floor.
