I really don't see why you would do this UNLESS you were doing the modding yourself as something to do to keep you off the streets. For the price you will pay for the mods, you can double that and get a superior new player or transport/dac combo.
Anyway, as far as I can determine, two mods offered were really:
1. Change the fuse.
2. Change the power cord.
I also have an older SONY player and I am considering at least doing the power cord, although for $59.00, one can change the fuse and not really have to have any significant DIY skills.
The power cord change is mostly skill with AC voltage/current, that you can strip wire, etc.
