RE: Even cheaper

This whole valley was logged for the majority of the late 19th and 20th century. In the late 1970's they started selling lots. They always did selected cutting, never clear cutting. They only replanted red oak and a sterile cherry that does not flower or fruit. These were the best woods for them to grow and sell here. You can even still see some of the white painted circles around some trees they used to gauge growth. Most of the wood went to North Carolina known for its oak furniture back in the day.

So other than the oak and cherry which represent 80% of the wood in here there are a few Sycamore and Ash and a handful of smaller maple and various conifers.
