Well, I had my DAC power supply project all ready and on it's way from eBay China. Didn't quite go as expected, not at all, in any respect, actually.
I order the toroid, the power supply board AND a really nice looking all aluminum case. Well, underpowered! I didn't realize that I need 1.5 amperes at 9-volts to drive this relatively inexpensive S.M.S.L. DAC.
OK. Those toroids cost $30-$40 and my budget was already blown apart by ordering the wrong stuff!
So, I eventually find a Boston Acoustics wall-wart at 1.5 amperes AC and hook it up to whatever I have. Christ, MUCH BETTER than a toroid.
Thinking about my next move. I am trying to understand what split bobbin winding means in the context of IE transformers?? Aren't they all??
Note as well: I have an industrial open frame power supply I've been using that can supply up to 5 amperes, very well regulated. It has a terrific bottom end, but doesn't compare to the smaller IE transformer in foot tapping results.
Could it be, that all IE transformers are NOT created equally??
