I agree that a ferrite bead can do more sonic harm than good when clamped on a line-level interconnect, digital cable, or AC power cord, but there is minimal sonic affect for better or worse when a ferrite bead is placed on a DC umbilical, IME. That said, I have replaced all stock PVC insulated DC umbilicals for all outboard power supplies I use with DIY SPC/PTFE mil-spec DC umbilicals, without the use of ferrite beads. I'll make a decision at some point whether or not I'll build yet another DIY DC umbilical for the new power supply, as well.
