Almost newSony DVP-S7700

I sold my lightly modded Oppo 980H I had been using as a transport and now have a new (to me) transport, a Sony DVP-S7700. Got it from eBay for $79.99. A few scratches on the top and sides; camouflaged those with a black marker. Hooked it up and hit play. No audio. Realized I needed to connect it to the widescreen to access the OSD and set preferences to digital and PCM. Done. Got sound. WOW! Listened for several hours to various types of music. The sound is big and open. Soundstage is big, more space around individual instruments. More detail, vocals are outstanding, more of everything that's good. But after about two hours I'm thinking its a little bright so I power down.

I removed the cover and beheld a bright and shinning gem. The interior was dust free. First mod was to clip the attached ac cord and attache a pig tail IEC connector. Next I wrapped some tourmaline crystals around the ac interior connection. I then applied rope caulk around the chassis (thanks Dryginger). I reattached the cover and powered up. Opened the disk tray and using terra-cotta paint pens, painted it green, orange and blue. Powered down and turned it over and attached diy footers made of cork and neoprene from an old mouse pad.

Hooked it up again and relaxed while listening to beautiful music. No more brightness. Sound is really smoooooth now. I guess the proper term for what I heard is musical. I feel more of the emotion of the music and I'm very happy to be a audiophile.

Best to you,
