I thought that Tantalum was used in Capacitors, not resistors.
I seem to remember that Tantalum is used mostly in small sized caps - physically - but also small Farad values (Pico if IRRC) and used in lots of surface mount stuff-
Roederstein makes resistors - I remember buying lots when I was in the MFG side, lots of high quality - and low drift - 50 ppm and the like...
Not sure that they are comparable as your question suggests-
