"Firstly, the differences became far clearer when I went back to the wall wart after listening to the battery supply for a bit because I was definitely giving up clarity and gaining a slight roughness and haze.So with the battery, cleaner, crisper and more holographic. There was better instrument separation and whilst I suspect there was no increase in low level detail, I could discern such detail better. Perhaps the low level 'noise' which the battery reduces/eliminates is normally enough to dirty that detail, even if one can't hear the noise itself. It certainly seemed blacker between notes. What surprised me and I didn't expect was that not only wasn't there any loss of dynamics, but I feel it's definitely improved. Almost as if the battery supplies a little more 'grunt'."
So it's not about 'cost' ... it's about improving SQ. :-))
