Advice needed on changing speaker hookup wire

I'm upgrading the hookup wires in my woofers to solid core 18 gauge silver with better Cardas connectors. My question: Should the positive and negative leads be wrapped together, or should they be left as individual leads inside the cabinet? Thanks.
