RE: Outstanding Cone Speaker Tweak!

Five days after posting this tweak I have learned of two factors impairing its full effectiveness and below are the solutions.

First, isolating speaker boxes from cross-vibration increases the air pressure that they exert inside the speaker cabinet encouraging it to move more in sympathy and degrading their ability to deliver focused sound images.

Secondly, the tweeter is sensitive and greatly benefits from being isolated from the mid-range. However isolating both degrades the performance of both.

So the tweak is optimized when a Neoprene rubber ring is used only for the tweeter and woofer, not for the mid-range. While the use of rope caulk is not a sonic necessity, the addition of a substantial weight (22 pounds of tiles from Home Depot in my case) to the top of each cabinet is important for inhibiting its backward/ forward motion and tightening up the images in the sound-stage. Remarkably enhanced dynamics with focused definition still at a modest cost over a speaker upgrade...
