I've been using a twisted pair (got the idea after seeing Kimber PBJ during my stint at Sonic Frontiers) of solid silver 24AWG with Teflon insulated jacket soldered directly to the to the output PCB traces of my MC step up to my phono stage for years. Sounds great!
Still gotta do something with the table end of things (new arm DIN to step up to replace the old Linn cable). Although, this is soldered directly to the input of the step up as well...
