do you realize that the neutral (white) wire to an AC outlet and the ground (green or bare copper) connect to the same thing and that bar is connected to an earth ground? Your CD player is probably non grounded (a double insulated product[ a square inside a square symbol indicates that type of ground]) A direct earth ground will probably accomplish nothing...
