Somebody emailed me from Europe (220V land) and asked about using the dIY version of the [Al Sekela] parallel AC filter there. I said I wouldn't. I like having more voltage headroom if you will. Someone in the thread you linked also recommended using 630V caps not those safety caps rated at 250 or 275. I'm not surprised to see that thread from 2011 and a burnt cap. Stuff happens.ET
