My first clock install. (need help with extra resistor)

Last week I converted one of my two disc players to pure dc, without any down regulation. (3.3v lithium, 6v nicad, 12v sla) The results have blown me away. So much so, that I now want to replace the crystal in both machines, with a quality clock assembly. This is my very first clock upgrade! Photo one shows before, two with components removed, and three, what both my players appear to have. What is the proper smd removal for both players? I want to do this right the very first time, and will appreciate VERY much, advice from those who have been here before.

Thanks...
AL
