I'm guessing there's a bit of a misunderstanding regarding the purpose of cable lifters.

To the best of my knowledge cable lifters have always been used primarily as "lifters" to actually lift the speaker? cables inches off the ground and above the carpet to minimize the impact of the carpet's statit electricity on the cables. Nowhere besides this thread have I ever heard of anybody using lifters to damp vibrations.

Even if lifters are used to "damp" vibrations, any such effort should be for naught.

I doubt loose speaker cables laying on the floor would be impacted by any floor-borne vibrations. There are air-borne vibrations that could induce some sonic distortions, but I suspect it would be minimal. On the other hand, it is known that wire with electric current passing thru it will induce vibrations at the wire and in this case the vibration's source is considered internally-generated. (Cardas has a youtube video showing cables moving as current passes through.)

If any of my speculations above are true, then about the only real remedy I can think of is a long slender blanket filled with much sand or lead to wrap around the cables with the attempt that the hefty filler mass will limit the cable's physical excitement when current is passing thru them.

But I'm unaware of any "cable lifter" on the market today that performs this feat. Even if there was, the cable internals would have be constructed tightly within the dialectric (little to no air gaps) for such a wrap to be effective.

My Audio Tekne speaker cables are litz wired and the outside diameter is roughly the equivalant of a thin pencil, so I assume there little wiggle room inside. In this case a wrap could be of sone sonic benefit and I've entertained trying to construct a wrap just to see.
