Smart phone not so smartmeant to say the nickel plate will capture and actually accelerate the magnetic field, improving detail n dynamics. The nickel plating acts like mu metal and magnetic fields would rather travel through mu metal than through air. They move faster .
Plastic headers while appearing to be chromed are really aluminized. It has little of the magnetic properties of nickel.
The header does two things: It captures and accelerates (over air) the magnetic field generated by the signal carrying wire and it further shields the signal carrying wire from possible outside interference.
I additionally cover the tube with copper tape for even better EMI properties. You can series the tubes to cover the entire length of your wires.
