So I put some GC and HD in my MTU-B a la AR

Which means I copied Acoustic Revives recipe for their RTP outlets in my Oyaide MTU-B 4 recepticle outlet and put inside a mix of GC (Green Carborundum) and crystal powder (they use tourmaline and quartz I used those in xmini size and chunks of Herkimer Diamonds {HD})

A first listen quickly provided many smiles as I used my reference recordings and quickly heard improvement. The areas that improved most are HF quality and texture, image quality and coherence. Image quality and coherence are a big thing for me and in particular pans of sound from L to R or vice versa became easier to "fully" track across the sound stage. Front to back placement and depth improved as well. These are good gauges of improvement on any front end especially digital. Perhaps things were more dynamic, I know one thing I felt much more comfortable at high volume. More detail too again especially location queue's.

I commented a few months ago when I made an improvement with similar results that I purposefully switched back to my coaxial digital cable from my Silflex TosLink to tame the HF a bit. Now it seems I am back near that level of HF now with the coaxial but with better texture and overall performance if you will. Very nice.

I used just under a pound of 16 grit Green Carborundum (a.k.a. Silicon Carbide) along with perhaps 8oz of xmini crystals. I used about a pound of Herkimer Diamond left in rather large pieces (about 6 of them)since the MTU-B isn't "fillable" if you will as its top and sides comes off as one piece and the outlets mount to the bottom. I would have stuffed it full otherwise. My Oyaide is the MTU-B because it was sold with no outlets and I put R-1's in it.

I sourced my Silicon Carbide from eBay. It's pretty cheap. So I obviously recommend this tweak for those trying to reach a higher level of sound. Well worth the less than an hour and less than $20 of GC I used. I dug up the Herkimers in NY and had the crystals on hand obviously.
