Hi fellow Mini-Monitors lovers,

I merely wanted to share with you, what I've come to see as an essential means of getting the very best from any stand mounted speaker - be it Mini-Monitors or slightly larger Monitors that require their own dedicated/customized stands - as all to often when faced with the question of what does one do when stands are needed?, we've to realize there aren't many choices out there to begin with, at least that I'm aware of, yes we once had stands produced by Sound Organizations - Target Audio - Osiris - Solid Steel and Sanus, but to my mind - I've to ask, does one size fit all?.

As someone whom believes in going to the extreme in getting the best out of each/every component in my system - including isolating each said component from its surroundings as a way of minimizing vibrations or resonance from interfering with the actual music passages themselves - it has never failed me to see how so many users of said speakers can invest upwards of $7.000 on their speaker options, but never seem to want to spend over $300 on any given stand.

I've been an avid believer of this companies wares since first hearing them in a dealer friends home ( Jeff Miller - Arthur's Audio Orchard Lake Michigan ) back in 1993, and have since had a total of 3 custom amp stands and speaker stands made since said time, and have always felt that the end result was more then worth it as far as fidelity goes, and more importantly, a sense of knowing my source - amplification - nor speakers performance are being held back.

To my ears, it's as if these stands isolate the components themselves into a position much as we tend to carry on about the importance of sound staging and attention to detail hidden within the notes themselves - yet are now allowed to flow more frequently in space if you will - I hear a greater sense of detail - attack of lower mid bass notes and a nice sense of agility and/or nimbleness to stringed instruments in regards to timbre or pitch second to none.

This isn't so much of a review per SE, in so much as once again trying to bring about an awareness to those of you whom use such speaker designs - I mean we've several options as I see it - we can try to make ourselves believe that speaker stands are vital as a collective whole in getting better said performance from our cherished speakers and buy cheaply - but why?, I see each component as an investment in self - I don't purchase things to be uses as short term, until the next greatest component comes along that offers a little more top end extension here or a more liquid midrange there - I believe that if more music livers as opposed to so-called audiophile types would spend more time voicing/finalizing the sounds of their components to suit ones ears - there wouldn't be such a need to exchange components as much as some tend to change their underwear it seems.

Question, how often have you felt you've gotten rid of a component you didn't like?, only to hear it later at the dealer or friends home you sold it to singing its behind off, and wondering what a mistake you've made!, it's because all to often we tend to judge things on instant qualification - we want to hear them perform their best right out of the box, without taking into account each component has to settle in and get to know one another - yet we overlook the importance of matching their strengths through cabling looms, or power cords - tubes - isolation devices that allow us a deeper understanding of what's capable before writing them off - but I'm getting sidetracked as usual, aren't i?.

Long story shorter ( yeah right ) look at those fortunate few that can afford the likes of stands like those designed by Audio Revive ( $1.925 for LS 3/5A types and $10.495 Harbeth M40.1 types ) as well as another dedicated stand for Rogers/Harbeth LS 3/5A types produced by Music Tool called Tool One ( $1.600 ), and then try to re-think the importance of owning a customized stand that better suit the dimensions of your beloved speakers to a " T " and built to place them at your ideal listening height to begin with - as all to often we only have choices between 18" - 20" - 24" and 28", but what then about those of us whom are 6'2 or 6'6" tall and have to settle on said stands having the speakers firing into our stomach areas!, naw - for me that's not the way it should be done.

So, once again, this is more or less as someone said before on another topic nothing more then a glorified text message - to raise the awareness level of those of you whom once again use said speaker types.

I believe our systems put off what we put into them, and investing in stands for both components and speakers shouldn't be that area we settle in, just food for though.

I happen to use them with Herbie Sound Lab - Big Fat Dots as Speaker/Stand Interfacing Devices along with Track Audio Speaker Spikes ( 3/8 UNC ) and bedded into Isoclean Power TT-700 Tip Toe Bases, and can't stand to have it any other way.

Once again, it's on you to pay attention to what's needed in your system, and then justify its worth - but you know where I stand ( pun intended ) otherwise, I'd not have taken it upon myself to stress this vital matter.

Happy Listening - But know what to listen for/to, and use that as your guide, not someone else's ears that might've you chasing components over and over and over again - in other words.........., trust your ears/senses and heart to what sounds right to you.

Regards,
