RE: Replacing electrolytic caps with poly caps??

The input is switchable between MM or MC input. An MM cart is in use. Here's the situation. The original electrolytics were NP which I didn't recognize at the time and I swapped them out for some higher grade Nichicon's (polarized). It didn't work, all the highs went away. By the time I realized my goof, the original caps were gone. The pre (a Yamaha) was shelved when something newer and shinier came along. Then in a fit of late winter's musings I thought "I've got some poly caps laying around. I wonder if this will work?".
Which brings us to this post. Of course I could do the good electrolytic and film bypass route but like any good tweaker, I like to experiment ;-)
