Tweakers' Asylum Tweaks for systems, rooms and Do It Yourself (DIY) help. FAQ. |
|
I just got done with my dedicated listening room, which I did all the work myself on (framing, electrical, drywall, stonework on the fireplace, etc). I also built my own sound panels which are located at the first reflection points as well as other surfaces. Then I built a pair of Frugel-Horn Mk3 full-range speakers, to use in my first foray into low-wattage tube systems. Feeling ambitious, and in keeping with my DIY listening room theme, I made my own audio rack out of 2" thick solid Oak, which came from some old bar tops I got for a song. The frame of the rack is doweled and glued, and the shelves have adjustable metal cones on each corner, which rest on the frame. The entire rack sits on metal carpet spikes. I haven't completed the finish work yet, but I'm pretty happy with the way it came out! And I have about $60 into it, which is even better! I've included a pic of my Frugel-Horns for your viewing pleasure ... I love these speakers!
