I've tried a few lead-free. I cannot comment on the tone, but as for the workability, I'll stick with my lead based solder. Takes way too much heat, so it's difficult/deadly on IC's. Forget re-work. Crap clogged up my desoldering gun every time I used it, whichever flavor. IMHE
