There will be a rectifier setup that converts AC to DC. Probably cheap diodes or a bridge that have a lot of noise. A good quiet power supply might have high quality diodes, filtering, one or more regulators that help absorb noise. If you want to discuss active shields contact Damien Martin. He holds the patent.
