You taught me something today, and I'm most grateful. I couldn't understand why I didn't measure any negative voltage on pin #4 when I first built the power supply. Now I know.As I stated in another reply, I'm going to leave well enough alone. It's working, and it's only an inexpensive spare phono stage.
One more question, if you don't mind. Would it still be wise to use a bypass cap on pin #8 to ground? I read a lot about the 2604 (and other op-amps) here at TA, and many talked of bypassing pins 4 and 8. In this circuit, it would seem I would just do pin #8. Correct, or would this do something to the voltage divider the circuit uses?
