IMO, jea48's advice is spot on if you understand exactly what he's saying. There's no substitute for a good pair of electricians pliers and properly twisting the wires together before installing the (high quality) wire nut. Anything less is just a hack job and won't give you the long term reliability. Try to find some photo examples on the net or in a wiring book.
