thanks for your responces.
well this is the story, and dont laugh. i want to learn.
in order to start learning i want to first twiddle around a bit.
i have an old decommisioned boombox with a tapedeck and no line in or mic input. the tapedeck nolonger functions and is beyond repare but the amplifier section is working. when i looked at the circuitboards, i notices that the signal feed came from two wires. however i want to use this amplifier with sources that have a left, right and ground wire. from what ive read here, i uneasily assume that the wires that i saw were ground and mono. can i still safely "mix" both the left and right signals from my source? i dont want to have just the left or right channel. i have a suspcious feeling that this can be done with RCA and TRS connectors.
