In some situations you can't use Ns. The best sounding Blackgates by far are BGN & FKs. I wouldn't use the standards unless space is a problem. There's still a bit of what you describe for break-in especially for the FKs and my guess break in is about 250 hrs.

I've got BGs in my tuner and in every other piece of equipment except my CD player - it's mostly Pass Labs stuff. You'll get the best results on source and front end components.
